DARK MATTER is a unique art space in Berlin, a multidimensional parallel world of light, space and sound. In an extraordinary symbiosis of art and technology, DARK MATTER presents the visionary works of light and media artist Christopher Bauder in various exhibition spaces.
His expansive light installations blur the boundaries between reality and the digital world. In the velvety black rooms of a former industrial area, visitors embark on a journey through the multi-layered, sometimes interactive works of art. The pace of everyday life fades into the background as light, space and sound condense into emotional choreographies of luminous shapes and colors.

DARK MATTER: An expanding cosmos of art by Christopher Bauder
DARK MATTER was created by internationally renowned light and media artist Christopher Bauder. The expansive museum area is divided into a number of exhibition spaces, showcasing his permanent and temporary artworks.
KOLLEKTION features a permanent exhibition of seven light and media installations by Bauder. FREIRAUM and TRANSFORMATOR provide space for large, changing artworks and performances.

KOLLEKTION: We have put a lot of thought and planning into this so that you can enjoy your stay in peace and not have too many people on the premises at once. To avoid long waiting times at the entrance, the day is divided into timeslots. The tour through the rooms with 7 installations takes about 1-2 hours.
SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS (TRANSFORMATOR & FREIRAUM): Unless otherwise stated. The time shown on your ticket corresponds to the opening hours of the exhibition. Admission is possible within the specified timeframe, but no later than one hour before closing time.
SPECIAL EVENTS: Please check the respective event for the exact opening times and duration.
Re-entry is not possible.
Student tickets are only offered to this group of visitors.
- A school or university ID card that is properly dated and confirms that one is pursuing a full-time course of study
- A current dated letter on university or school letterhead with an official stamp confirming full-time student status
- For international students - Certified translations of the above documents or ISIC card.

TICKETS
For environmental reasons, we would encourage you to travel either by public transport or by bicycle.
By public transport, you get off at the S-Bahn station in Rummelsburg. From there, you can either take the 21 tram towards S-Bahn Schöneweide for two stops, alighting at Gustav-Holzmann-Strasse, or you can get some fresh air by walking along the main street; you will see DARK MATTER on the left-hand side of the street after 10-15 minutes.
Bicycle racks are available on the exhibition grounds.
ARRIVAL
Children are welcome when accompanied by a responsible adult. DARK MATTER is a place for all ages and we invite you to explore and participate.
Children until the age of 6 do not need their own tickets. From the age of 7, a regular ticket is required.
KOLLEKTION & SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS (TRANSFORMATOR & FREIRAUM): Depending on the exhibition and event, discounted tickets may be available. Information on the current exhibitions and admission prices can be found HERE.(https://www.darkmatter.berlin/tickets)
It is recommended that children wear ear defenders. You can borrow these at the entrance with a deposit of €20.
For reasons of safety and space, it is not permitted to bring large objects such as prams into the exhibition area. Those can be left in the bicycle racks.

Photography is encouraged in DARK MATTER, but please refrain from using a flash. It's the perfect place for enchanting, out-of-this-world shots.
